One Wrong Move, Jeopardy Falls Series #1 by Dani Pettrey

Book description:

Taunting riddles.

A deadly string of heists.

Two broken hearts trapped in a killer's game.

Christian O'Brady was pulled into a life of crime at a young age by his con artist parents. Now making amends for his corrupt past, he has become one of the country's foremost security experts. When a string of Southwestern art heists targets one of the galleries Christian secured, he is paired up with a gifted insurance investigator who has her own checkered past.

Andi Forester was a brilliant FBI forensic analyst until her career was destroyed. She now puts those skills to work investigating insurance fraud, and this latest high-stakes case will test her gift to the limit. Drawn deep into a dangerous game with an opponent bent on revenge, Christian and Andi are in a race against the clock to catch him, but the perpetrator's game is far from finished, and one wrong move could be the death of them both.

My description:
I was looking forward to this new series by Pettrey. She is a terrific author, and I have enjoyed every one of her books. And this one definitely did not disappoint.

I liked everything about One Wrong move: the plot, the setting - New Mexico is definitely different for her, the non-stop suspense, the mystery aspect. The book was very well written without "fillers". A lot happened in the book, and it all flowed together keeping me on the edge of my seat. I could not put the book down. I did end up reading past the time I needed to go to bed.

What really stood out to me in this book was the characters.

There are the two main characters of course: Christian and Andi. They do play a more prominent role in the story, but there are also the others who are featured more than a lot of secondary characters in other books:
Deckerd, Christian's brother
Riley, their sister
|Harper, Andi's best friend
And Greyson, family friend, mentor to Christian, and a possible romantic interest for his sister.....

This is a great cast of characters, and it was cool that not everything happened to Christian and Andi, but it involved all of them. I don't know for sure, but I am guessing the other books in this series will feature Christian's siblings. Her books usually have at least four books, and there is another sister who disappeared on them years ago....

Pettrey played up the art heist angle well, and I was kept guessing to the motive and the "who" until that was revealed.

This is an author who does not shy away from the faith aspect, and it comes out strong in the story, and especially in how the siblings came out of the childhood they had.

Pettrey has an excellent start to this new series, and I can't wait to see what else she has in store for these characters I already love. And I am reminded again of why she is one of my top favorite authors.

Special thanks to the author for an advance copy of this book. I was under no obligation to provide a review and the thoughts contained herein are my own.
