I have started doing these new and notable author posts for a couple of reasons:
1) To talk about authors who are new or fairly new to me, and to talk about authors I have been reading and just love their books.
2) To help spread the word about lesser known authors. One disadvantage I see of independent and/or self publishing authors, is they surely have a harder time getting readers and getting the word out about their books.
I have run across so many new to me authors in the last few years, so this is my attempt to help people hear about them and their books.
Today, it is Robin Patchen, author of several Christian suspense authors.
I first ran across her in June of 2019 when I downloaded a free e-book of the first book in her Nutfield Saga, Convenient Lies. I am somewhat ashamed to say it sat un-read for a few years.
On May 2 2022, during my three month layoff because of Covid, I ran across #4 in that series: Innocent Lies. It sounded awesome, and I love books that have kids and families in, so I have it a try on Kindle Unlimited, and loved it.
The plot:
A lost little boy steals his heart.
When Eric finds eight-year-old Daniel alone in the woods, he has no idea where the boy came from or how he's survived the wintery New Hampshire weather. He figures once he hands the boy off to child services, his part in Daniel's drama will be over. He couldn't be more wrong.
She’ll do anything to keep her son safe.
Kelsey sneaks into Nutfield with a goal and a secret, but when she's arrested and sees Eric, her first and only love, all her plans to expose her enemy fall apart.
The past catches up with them.
Together, Eric and Kelsey fight to protect Daniel, an innocent child caught in a dangerous game. Can Eric help Kelsey bring down her enemies without risking his heart...again? Will Kelsey have to walk away from the only man she's ever loved...again?
A long lost love and an innocent child... Immerse yourself in this romantic thriller.
I immediately started reading the whole series, starting back with the first one. I have enjoyed every book I have read by her, and always anticipate the next one coming out. She is an author who weaves the same characters throughout the whole series, of course introducing new ones in each book also.
There are nine books in the Nutfield Saga. The last four books are like a mini series within the series titled The Legacy series.
The author used that series to launch her next series, The Coventry Series. That series has 10 books out so far, with #11 coming out in July, A Mountain Too Steep.
Also coming up is a new series she is starting, The Wright Heroes of Maine. The first book is due out October 17: Running to You: Amnesia in Shadow Cove.
Description:
Sam never understood why Eliza left him five years ago, ghosting him without explanation. He’s avoided romance ever since, focusing on building his business. Money might not keep him warm at night, but it can sure buy a lot of blankets.
Then Eliza shows up on his doorstep and throws herself into his arms. She can’t explain her bruises or the head injury that’s left her with no memories of the past five years, including their breakup. No matter how good it feels to hold her, though, there’s no way he’s getting sucked into romance again.
He’ll deliver Eliza to her mother, and that will be that. But instead of finding her mom, they’re met by two attackers and barely escape alive. Despite the danger to his life and his heart, he can’t leave Eliza to fend for herself.
Together, they embark on a journey to reconstruct her past while evading the men chasing her. As Sam and Eliza close in on the truth, their romance reignites, but her secret threatens to destroy them both.
Prepare to be enthralled by this gripping story of amnesia, a second chance at love, and a secret baby. Running to You is an edge-of-your-seat Christian romantic suspense set in Maine that will keep you reading all night long.
It looks and sounds good, and I am anticipating reading that one.
The author also has a 2 book series Finding Amanda, which I have not read yet.
Each of her books is filled with suspense, faith, and of course romance. This unknown to me author before 2019 has become an author whose books I thoroughly enjoy, and highly recommend.
Author bio:
Robin Patchen is a USA Today bestselling and award-winning author of Christian romantic
suspense. She grew up in a small town in New Hampshire, the setting of her Nutfield Saga books, and then headed to Boston to earn a journalism degree. After college, working in marketing and public relations, she discovered how much she loathed the nine-to-five ball-and-chain. After relocating to the Southwest, she started writing her first novel while she homeschooled her three children. The novel was dreadful, but her passion for storytelling didn’t wane. Thankfully, as her children grew, so did her writing ability. Now that her kids are adults, she has more time to play with the lives of fictional heroes and heroines, wreaking havoc and working magic to give her characters happy endings. When she’s not writing, she’s editing or reading, proving most of her life revolves around the twenty-six letters of the alphabet.
