US Secret Service Special Agent Luke Powell is lucky to be alive. Three of his fellow agents have died in unusual circumstances in the past ten weeks. Luke is devastated by the loss of his friends and colleagues, and his inability to locate the killer feels like a personal failure. He and his team are experts at shielding others, but now the protectors are in need of protection.
FBI Special Agent Faith Malone is driven to succeed and confident in her ability to solve every case she's assigned. She's been put in charge of the investigation into the unprecedented attacks, and with Luke's life in danger, the stakes have never been higher. But it's hard to know how to fight back when you don't know who the enemy is.
Luke has teamed up with Faith before, but he's not convinced she's up for the job and she's not convinced he's telling her everything he knows. As more agents are targeted, Luke and Faith will have to learn to trust each other and work together to bring a killer to justice and prevent any more names from joining their fallen brothers and sisters on the Secret Service Wall of Honor.
My review:
Lynn Blackburn's first series, Dive Team Investigations, is one of the best suspense series I have ever read. I was sad to see it end, and couldn't wait for her new series to start. Book one is finally here...well it will be March 2.
One thing I like in books is character development and interactions between characters that go beyond one book. Blackburn's previous series had those in spades, and Unknown Threat promises that this series will also.
I loved these characters: Faith, the FBI agent tasked with who is killing Secret Service agents, and Luke who has already lost close friends and is in danger himself...he was especially a great character. There is also a great cast of characters who will have their stories played out in the upcoming books in the series.
The suspense.......wow. The book was very unpredictable. You didn't know what was going to happen next, and who would be involved. I didn't want to put the book down, so I just kept reading to the great ending. The plot was one where the reader has no clue who the bad guy is, or why he is killing the Secret Service agents.
I totally loved this book, and can't wait for the next one. Blackburn is getting better with each book she writes.
I was provided a copy of this book for review purposes. All opinions in this review are my own.
