Yes, for either your reading pleasure, boredom, or exasperation, I will try to do my own version of the "12 Pains of Christmas."
So, the second thing at Christmas that's such a pain to me.........
Christmas songs I don't like.
Face it - there are tons of great Christmas songs, recorded by some great singers.
There are also some not-so great songs and some great songs recorded by not-so-great-singers. Here are a few of the ones I love to hate:
Blue Christmas by Elvis - I'm sorry, Elvis fans, I absolutely detest anything he sings, but this is at the top of my list. And would you believe it, it is the first Christmas song I heard played in a store this year!
Same Old Lang Syne by Dan Fogelberg: No apologies on this one, it is simply a retarded song. Guy meets his old lover in the grocery store and they drink together. Really dumb song, dumb lyrics, dumb tune. If you've never heard it, consider yourself blessed indeed!
Mr. Santa by Madonna: To be fair, I cannot stand Madonna at all, much less her singing, but her version of this makes me nauseous.
Baby It's Cold Outside: I don't care who sings this, I can't stand it. Awful song. Really, really awful.
It Won't Be The Same This Year by Vince Gill: written in memory of his brother, a nice enough song, but extremely depressing, and who wants depressing at Christmas?!
Ave Maria: This is another of those songs that it doesn't matter who sings it. It sends chills down my spine - and not good chills. I absolutely abhor it. I even have my own version of it I sing. Does not belong on any Christmas CD. Yuk.
Ok, those are the ones that really stick out to me. If you bothered to read this, what song do you hate to hear at Christmas? :-)

The second pain of Christmas

Debbie's nominations are "Last Christmas I Gave You My Heart" and the one that starts "It's Christmas time and what have you done another year older ..." She agrees on Blue Christmas (I think the Elmer Fudd version is cool, though).
My nomination is "Do You Hear What I Hear" the most inaccurate of the "Christian" Christmas songs (IMHO)
I can't stand "Santa Baby"
Man, I definitely agree on Same Auld Lang Syne. The first time I heard it, I thought it was a joke. My daughter and I make fun of it every time we hear it. It's like a train wreck!
